It’s Time to Start Living Again

Carrying the weight of trauma alone is exhausting — and you don’t have to keep doing it. Wekiva Spring Center’s Men’s Trauma Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is specifically for men who have experienced acute or chronic trauma and are ready to understand it, work through it and move forward.

This program uses a trauma-informed approach and evidence-based practices to treat the symptoms and conditions uniquely associated with men’s trauma. Techniques are delivered through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), resilience-building and skills training, alongside group and individual therapy, psychoeducation and medication management.

The program meets Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., giving you the intensive support you need while still allowing you to live at home, stay connected to work and family and keep moving through your daily life.

Why an Intensive Outpatient Program?

Not every man needs — or wants — a residential program to heal. Our Men’s Trauma Recovery IOP offers the coordinated, structured care of a higher level of treatment without stepping away from your routine. You’ll have the chance to apply what you’re learning in real time, in your actual life, with the support of a team that understands what recovery from trauma really takes.

What’s Included With Treatment

Treatment can include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Daily group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Weekly RN check-in
  • Crisis and safety planning

What You Will Work On

Healing from trauma isn’t one conversation — it’s a process. Our curriculum meets you where you are and builds the skills you need to move forward, including:

  • Understanding yourself and your trauma — Self-esteem, self-compassion, self-soothing, the impacts of trauma and writing a letter to your younger self
  • Making sense of your reactions — How you may be contributing to your own suffering, healthy vs. unhealthy coping, defense mechanisms, getting stuck in the negative and invalidating the source of your pain
  • Building stronger relationships — Boundaries, communication, control, dealing with empathy and distorted thinking
  • Practical tools for regulation — Tapping, grounding, wise mind and telling primary emotions from secondary ones
  • Looking ahead — Hopes and dreams, fears, values, types of support systems and rational counterstatements

Our Treatment Approach

Group sessions are led by licensed professionals and combine education, group therapy and safety planning. We use the Trauma-Informed Care Model and encourage open, honest discussion about the real challenges you’re facing — because healing happens when you stop carrying it in silence.

Every man’s path through trauma is different, so your treatment plan is built around your specific needs, reviewed regularly and adjusted as you grow. Before you complete the program, we’ll work with you on a continuing care plan so the progress you make here keeps going once you leave.
